It seems that I am always running somewhere. Dancing, hockey, groceries, getting my nails done…. you know the drill. Eating well for me is necessary. If I didn’t I don’t know how I would have the energy to get everything done in the day. I need food that travels well so protein shakes and smoothies are a daily event. So to keep things interesting I like to make different flavours and prefer them on ice so it feels a little more indulgent. This Cherry Smoothie with Lime is a perfect change from the usual chocolate peanut butter I drink and has a zesty taste I am in love with.
Again … running out the door means I don’t have a lot of time to be fancy but at the same time I like my food to taste interesting. I get bored if I make the same thing all the time so I like to have a selection of frozen fruits and extracts available so I can experiment a little and shake it up… pardon the pun!
I am a huge fan of lime and while I used cherries this time this recipe works really well with strawberries too. Just make sure not to cheap out on the frozen cherries. I find that sometimes the less expensive bags tend to have some pits in them sometimes and that isn’t good for my blender blades or my teeth…. no one needs that surprise!
I also recommend using Bing cherries or sweet dark cherries. I prefer frozen cherries but this Cherry Smoothie can be made with fresh cherries as well if you are lucky enough to get your hands on some.
